I agree with Karl. when you plan to go bush it actually pays to plan for the worst!!, i myself do alot of hunting in the bush and have had times where you can get slightly lost, hence why i carry a GPS,compass, and a map of the area along with many other necessaries. It is not wise to take children of a young age bush in this sort of weather but amazing enough he did.No food or supplies what was this person thinking? hmm you are taking kids, kids get hungry, kids need more regular water and food intakes than adults. I would suggest if he plans to go bush again be prepared.as far as i can see it was total irresponsibility and lack of knowledge that got them in this mess.
And the atrocious weather has only been forecast for about a week now, if this had been a tourist there would have been nothing but complaints for totally ignoring the pending weather forecasts and calls for reparation to be made, what a moron for venturing into the bush with two kids, the fact he IS a local makes it all the more ignorant and charges to recover search costs should be investigated, what a complete fool, and this has not been raised once by your news reporters instead making the whole story out to be a marvelous survival experience. Bad parenting is what i would of called it, what would be the outcome had his kids died??
