The 62nd Emmy television awards have been held in LA as vampires went head-to-head with mad men and good wives.
The comedy categories were also hard fought and newcomers triumphed over the old-school.
Runaway hit TV3 show Glee went into today's awards leading the nominations but in a case of life imitating art they won the sectionals – missing out on the regionals.
The show's creator Ryan Murphy won for directing and crowd favourite Jane Lynch, who plays the acerbic Sue Sylvester on the show, took home her first Emmy.
But Glee lost out in the big categories; Lea Michele missed out on the Best Actress award to Eddie Falco from Nurse Jackie.
Glee also missed out on the coveted Best Comedy award to fellow TV3 show Modern Family.
Modern Family won writing and acting awards, including Best Supporting Actor for Eric Stonestreet.
In the drama category, Emmys favourite Mad Men had an excellent night, winning Best Drama for the third consecutive time.
Vampire series True Blood missed out on Best Drama, but newly weds Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, dwarfed by their True Blood co-star Alexander Skarsgard, were on hand to dish out some awards.
There were some Hollywood heavyweights in attendance; George Clooney was honoured for his charity work, given the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award.
Fans of C4's cult hit Breaking Bad will be happy; actors Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston both won acting Emmys – this one being Cranston's third in a row.
