A Kawerau Mongrel Mob member who ran down and killed Murupara 16-year-old Jordan Herewini was today jailed for life with a minimum non-parole period of 15 years for murder.

In the High Court in Rotorua, Justice Edwin Wylie also sentenced Quentin Duane Pukeroa, 32, to nine years for the attempted murder of Iwi Delamere, eight years each on separate aggravated burglary charges, two years for injuring Jordan's brother Jamie Herewini with intent to injure him, and three years for participating in an organised criminal group. These sentences are to be served concurrently with his life imprisonment term.

Justice Wylie also sentenced three other men for participating in a criminal group, the Mongrel Mob, leading up to and following Jordan's death

Terry John Faataape, 40, was imprisoned for two years four months and William Te Paire Aramoana, 25, two years and five months.

Jason Kirk Iopata, 37, was sentenced to 11 months home detention and 150 hours community work.

The charges resulted from a confrontation between Kawerau Mongrel members and the local Tribesmen gang in Murupara in 2009.
