Bill English

The controversial and damaging secret tape recordings from National's annual conference have made a return to the election campaign and once again National's Bill English is the target.

3 News has obtained another exclusive secret recording of English where he suggests that it is about winning at all costs "despite national's highly principled statements."

Bill English was out selling National's tax cuts  - but it's the return of the secret tapes that had 3 News approaching him today.

A number of National MPs were secretly taped at their conference in August, English saying he would eventually sell Kiwibank - he later apologised.

Last night 3 News was sent another tape from the same cocktail do.

English suggesting that winning is everything despite National's highly principled statements - he suggests you target a few and do what you need to in order to win.

“Winning is everything my man,” he said in the tape.

English is dismissing the tape but when asked what he meant when he said "despite the highly principled statements" - he did not want to answer.

Obviously the return of the tapes is music to Helen Clark's ears and she has pounced, calling English cynical.

But National says Labour is behind it, something Helen Calrk denies.

You are obviously into fairy tales and dirty tricks if you condone this sought of behaviour. Just imagine of you were having a private conversation with someone (maybe about anarchy, war, YOU NAME IT) and some low life splattereed it all over the news and you were bought in for questioning at the local station or (maybe) treason.
If the Lefties don't mind this sort of BUGGING then I say don't go out to parties and talk too loud, one just won't be able to trust any stranger hanging around... oh yeah "This is a recording and please speak into the mic!!!

I wonder how many politicians read the bible, listen to this."Leaders can`t afford to make fools of themselfs, gulping wine and swilling beer, lest, hung over, they don`t know right from wrong, and the people who depend on them are hurt.
use wine and beer as sedatives,to kill pain and dull ache of terminally ill,for whom life is a living death..
Speak up for the people who have no voice, for the rights of all the down and outers.speak out for justice!Stand up for the poor and destitute..proverbs 31
How many politicians go to church to confess their sins?IF they did we as a nation might trust and believe in them.

A hidden agenda is definitely on the cards as far as National is concerned. Mark my words , if they do get elected to the chair they will bring this economy down to its knees. I think the timing for elections is absolutely not right as the world financial crisis coupled with 2 sets of clowns trying to decide who should rule the roost could drag down the entire economy .

If all Labour can come up with is a pathetic smear campaign in the form of "tapes" to undermine the opposition it is worth remembering that their campaign is based on Trust.
Trust, by Labour's definition I would have thought to be a can of worms. Their "can". One doesn't have to dig
too far to come up with a plethora of untruths and deceit exacted on the NZ public by the incumbent government
and it's leader. Or have we all forgotten that in favour of an easier target. Smoke and Teflon doesn't make for honest government, especially when all the mirrors have been broken.

Bill English does a lot of damage to John Key. National is trying to move to the left a bit to fill the small void that Labour has made by moving a little too far left, but Bill just keeps reminding us that he is out to the right along with Genghis Khan. He undoes a lot of John Key's soft approach. Vote for John and you will get Bill.

I have to laugh, all he has been caught saying is “Winning is everything my man,” so what, that's what all politicians think I bet.

A tape recording proves nothing.

Ah yes, those comments simply reinforce the fact that National have absolutely no way of winning the election with a right wing agenda.

Many of the brigade that served in the nasty 90s remain: Maurice Williamson, Bill English, Lockwood Smith, Murray McCully, Tony Ryall and Nick Smith.
