It may have taken its time but now Queenstown and surrounding areas have got snow, and heaps of it.
The dumping was so severe it closed most of the ski fields for the day.
The first major snowfall for the winter gave Queenstown, Arrowtown and Arthur’s Pass a dumping of at least 15cm of snow, with 5cm on the ground around town.
Police reported relatively few major traffic incidents caused by the snow, however, it did create headaches for a few motorists.
Snow bunnies are welcoming the white stuff with more heavy falls predicted for the area tomorrow and continuing through until Thursday.
