Track cycling world champion Hayden Godfrey has had more success, after winning the annual North Shore City Grand Prix.

Godfrey picked up his second title at the event, thanks to the help of his Subway Avanti team which dominated the race.

Led out by team mate and New Zealand road cycling champion Gordon McCauley, Godfrey sat patiently in the peleton, while Ryan van Uden and Mark Langlands made the early breaks.

Waikato's Shem Rodger kept Godfrey at bay, before the champion exploded in the final lap and crossed the line ahead of Rodger and team mate Josh England.

"It was a super aggressive race and at the end of the day the Subway Avanti guys did a great job of leading me out," Godfrey says.

In the women's race, Marina Duvnjak held off a strong challenge from defending champion Emma Petersen to win her third Grand Prix title.

Duvnjak was pushed hard by Toni Bradshaw, who made an early move on the field and was trailed by World Cup winner Katie Boyd.

But Duvnjak seized the moment, making the final break to clinch first place ahead of Emma Petersen and Rosy McCall.

Duvnjak will be hoping for more success when she competes at the Auckland track champs this weekend, while Godfrey will attempt to defend his World Omnium title in Poland in March.
