A west Auckland mother is denying driving under the influence of drugs and killing her 12-year-old daughter, and the case will go to trial.
Bryer Greenwood died in hospital from traumatic brain injuries following the two-vehicle crash just north of Helensville in July last year.
Following a lengthy police investigation, her mother Toni Ericksen, 32, was charged with causing death while driving under the influence of drugs, two counts of injuring while under the influence of drugs and driving while prohibited.
She pleaded not guilty to the charges and a date for her Auckland District Court trial will be set in March, Fairfax Media reported on Friday.
At the time of the crash Ericksen was driving Bryer and her eight-year-old sister Gemma home from netball. Their vehicle collided with a four-wheel-drive on the Kaipara Coast Highway.
