A man believed to be in his early 70s has been killed after apparently losing control of his bike on the Waikato Expressway section of State Highway One at Rangiriri.
The crash took place in the south bound lanes at around 7:50am this morning.
Police earlier reported that the accident involved a car, but Inspector Leo Tooman now says investigators believe the man fell off his BMW after encountering difficulties and that no other vehicle was involved.
Huntly police want to talk to anyone who may have witnessed the crash and hasn’t already been interviewed.
The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Waikato Police Serious Crash Unit.
