Murder charge after New Year's Day death

3News NZ

A man charged with assault after a man was stabbed to death in an Auckland suburb early on New Year's Day is now facing a murder charge.

Peter Job, 39, was remanded in custody without plea until another court appearance next month when he appeared in Auckland District Court on Thursday.

He was initially charged with assault after handing himself in to police the day after Nathan Albert was found dead outside a Panmure house.

The Papatoetoe 27-year-old died from stab wounds after being found on Pilkington Road about 4.20am on January 1.
