Musicians in New Zealand and around the world have joined together to create an album to pay homage, and raise money, for Kiwi musician Chris Knox – who recently had a stroke.
The 34 track album, aptly called Stroke, sees musicians around the globe remaster their favourite Chris Knox tracks.
“It was born out of this kind of frenzy that happens when something traumatic happens in someone’s life,” says Knox’s partner Barbara Ward.
“It was a response to people really wanting to do something, it was really unknown territory."
Five months after Knox’s stroke, he has been left unable to speak.
The artists recorded on the album free of charge to raise money for Knox and his care.
The 57-year-old musician has a music catalogue that spans more than three decades, and was tonight honoured with a Laureate Award by the Arts Foundation.
