My first school ball

3News NZ

It’s been a busy week but I’ve loved it!

In the weekend I went to my friends’ school ball. I was going with a bunch of friends, but I was still nervous. It was my first school ball and I was quite excited! I spent the whole week prior sussing out what I was going to wear, how I was going to act, how I was going to get there, dance moves and all that. The school ball was okay. They played 2 seconds of 'Rack City' and the rest was dubstep. No dramas, no bots drunks and the food was AMAZING!!! My advice to anyone going to a ball is “Wear deodorant, 2 sprays of cologne and 2 packs of tictacs!”. I can’t wait for my own school ball, It’s going to be so Awesome!!!  Hopefully with REAL music though.

As well as preparing for the ball I had other things on my mind. School is always my first priority. I had an formative Art History essay due that Friday, I had a 3 minute dance set to learn to help my friend pass a 9 credit assessment, AND on top of that, my own dance competition sets and my little brothers birthday.

As I’m reading through this, I realise that maybe its not that busy compared to a lot of other peoples schedules. My cousin reckons I should go on anxiety meds because I stress out too much.

Last-night I had a conversation with my parents again, about my future. I enjoy listening to what they have to say.  My Dad, my Mum, Step Dad & Step Mum all had interesting things to share about what I’m doing next year.  If I mixed together everything they told me, it would sound like this:

"Concentrate on these last year 13 exams and absolutely nail them.   Apply for as many scholarships as you can. Planning your journey is easy,  but taking the journey will be difficult,  figure out what path you need to take in order to get where you want to be,  plan ahead!  Be switched on!"

It’s a lot to take in, but it all makes sense and I am focused.  I’m having a good time at school and am loving life in general.    I have 2 weeks to hand in the final of my formative Art History studies. I’m confident that it will be complete and of a high standard.  I learnt my friends whole dance set which is to be performed at the end of this week in class which I’m so excited about as I love performing, and my brother had a birthday which pretty much lasted a whole week. He is so spoilt. Actually I’m just jealous of all his cool new toys.

Have a great week, strive for excellence in all you do, that’s My plan!
