Northern Mystics midcourter and captain Temepara George has been named joint most valuable player in the ANZ Championship (trans-Tasman netball league), alongside former Silver Ferns teammate Laura Langman.

George captained the Mystics to this year's ANZ Championship preliminary final, where they lost in extra time to the Magic last week.

She retired from international netball after last year's world championship in Singapore, and now steps down from the domestic form of the game.

Langman, who made her international debut in 2005, has been a consistent performer in an inexperienced Magic midcourt which has charged into the trans-Tasman league grand final against Melbourne Vixens on Sunday with an 11-match winning streak.
