The Northern Mystics are preparing for a re-match of last years ANZ championship semi-final with another showdown against the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic.
But after a dramatic collapse against the Vixens in the weekend, they admit they have some work to do.
Mystics goal shoot Catherine Latu has had a 97.4 per cent shooting record this season, so it was a surprise to see her miss her first attempt on Sunday. She says the loss to the Vixens was disappointing.
“The Australians are renowned for coming out and just smashing it in the second half and just never giving up. So we knew it was going to happen, we just didn’t deal with it properly so it’s our own fault,” she says.
Going in to this match the Magic have 10 consecutive wins behind them, and Latu says the Mystics are under no illusions that snapping that streak will be easy.
“They have the momentum going in to the game but that counts for nothing. At this stage it’s do or die and its going to be desperate netball,” she says.
