NIWA promises brilliant summer ahead

The summer looks set to please both beachgoers and farmers, according to NIWA's climate scientists.

They are predicting a mild La Nina summer, which will bring above average temperatures and lower rainfall.

Senior climate scientist Georgina Griffiths says it is set to be a golden summer.

She says the West Coast will be the place to be, with more sunshine and less rain than anywhere else.
