NOM*D showed a typical collection at the Sky City Theatre this morning.
It was grungy and, with the exception of a few stand out white pieces, dark. Both men’s and womenswear featured and layering was key.
The garments were essentially unwearable in the way they were presented (as is typical of NOM*D) but the styles and ideas presented were messy and fun and their in-store range will definitely be worth a look.
The collection’s video which opened the show was arty and showed off the collection while telling a coming of age story.
There was very much a theme of the range being split into two - white vs black, good vs bad, conformity and, well you get the idea.
Virginal whites expressing the innocence of the young opened the show and as the story continued darker and then more playful colours appeared as the rite of passage continued.
Towards the end, leathers appeared, shackling the body but ultimately there was resolution for all the adolescents portrayed.
