Auckland NRL fans have the opportunity to watch the grand final live in a 3D cinema this Sunday.

Event Cinemas have partnered up with Sky Sport to bring the match between the St George Illawarra Dragons and the Sydney Roosters to the big screen in 3D at four cinemas in the Auckland area.

“Nothing beats a grand final, it’s one of the most amazing experiences of my life.” says 3 News league reporter Sam Ackerman.

“Seeing it in 3D is the next best thing and seems like a great way to experience an amazing occasion.

“I’d definitely be keen to check it out except I’ve got the real thing. This will be the seventh grand final I’ve attended.”

“We have great facilities that are fully licensed with comfortable seating, surround sound, huge screens and now with our digital technology we have the ability to show sport live in 3D,” says Jane Hastings, Event Cinemas’ general manager.

“We trialed it with the FIFA World Cup and it was hugely popular.

“If you want to feel like you are really there and part of the action, this will be the place to be.”

Prior to the NRL grand final, the pre-match U20’s Warriors against the South Sydney Rabbitohs will screen in 2D, exclusively at the Manukau and Albany Event Cinemas’ theatres only.
