Charlie Brown

Designer: Charlie Brown

Showing: 4pm, Thursday September 6

Australian designer Charlie Brown launched her label in 1995, after moving to Australia from the United States in 1985.

She is the only overseas designer to be featuring in New Zealand Fashion Week 2012 and it is her first time showing at the festival.

Brown is known for cocktail dresses and evening dresses as well as smart casual wear.

She says her inspiration for this year’s show comes from her love of bold “pops of colour and subdued neutrals”. Colours to feature in the show include midnight blue, pacific blue, hot magenta, violet and mountain meadow teal.

Over the years Brown has had many supermodels appear in her shows including Linda Evangelista, Helena Christensen, Sophie Dahl, Jerry Hall, Jodie Kidd, Jade Jagger and Lily Cole.

In 2005 she had brain surgery to remove a benign cyst and made a complete recovery.

Charlie Brown has stores throughout Australia and two in New Zealand.
