You might remember last year you helped us raise more than $70,000 for Ben Leia, a young Samoan man, paralysed in a rugby accident.

The All Blacks got behind him, hosting a special fundraising event for him. Ben faced a desperate future in Samoa, but thanks to their fundraising and yours, Ben has a very bright future.

Tonight in Auckland, the New Zealaned Rugby Players Association, the Spinal Trust and others are hosting a major fundraiser to set up a dedicated spinal cord injury research unit in Auckland and aid rehabilitation support services for people at treatment facilities throughout the country.

All Black Conrad Smith reports on Ben Leia's story a year on.
