People across New Zealand have turned out at services this morning to commemorate Anzac Day.
Thousands braved poor weather to honour the dead and those who put their lives on the line for the country in the first and second world war, Vietnam, and other skirmishes, including Korea, East Timor, the Solomon Islands and ongoing operations in Afghanistan.
Governor-General Sir Anand Satyanan spoke to the gathered crowd in Christchurch, thanking all those who have joined the armed forces.
