New Zealand cyclist Hayden McCormick has been rewarded for strong form by signing a contract with Belgium-based professional team Lotto-Belisol.

The Te Awamutu rider will join the under-23 squad of an outfit whose top team includes New Zealand veteran Greg Henderson and German sprint star Andre Greipel.

McCormick has impressed at events in Europe and the United States this year, winning the one-day Trophee Sebaco in Brittany, France, along with the three-stage Le Trophee Centre Morbihan title in April.

He will compete at the junior world track championships in Invercargill from August 22-26 before leaving for Europe.
