A New Zealand fisherman is feared to have drowned in Tasmania

Thu, 14 Jan 2010 9:48a.m.

There are fears a New Zealand fisherman has drowned off the east coast of Tasmania.

Basil Alexander Lee, 40, was with friends near the Triabunna wharf when he went missing.

Mr Lee worked as a deck hand on a fishing boat, and returned to it to sleep about 11pm on Monday, but his friends could not find him the next morning and raised the alarm.

Police divers have searched the wharf but failed to find any sign of the man.
