Chinese are buying large quantity of almost anything you can think of. If it wasn't the Chinese hiking the price of the things that we consume for our daily survival, we could have had a much higher standard of living. Just think about it for a second, it is not only about baby formula, it is virturely everything from food to feul to housing to industrial products from everywhere in the world. I have read an article awhile back about China overtaking the US to be the largest oil consumer. Now you understand the crazy gas price you pay at the pump? Miss the good old days when filling your car doesn't cost you an arm and a leg? Every drop of oil that the Chinese consume is one drop less for you. Every tin can of baby formula that the Chinese buy shifts the demand curve up, therefore increases the price for everyone else. If this current trend goes on, the world economy will soon be destroyed by the locust nature of the Chinese. Nations must unite to eliminate this shameless race from the face of the world and restore order.

I sincerely advice to the New Zealand government and the public, please immediately to curb these Chinese people invasion of your society, they will bring destruction, corruption, crime, prostitutes, pollution, drugs, and a large number of pregnant women, plunder away your social welfare and resources, Hong Kong peoples daily eat toxic food, breathing polluted air, drinking contaminated water, but still have to pay each yearfive billion HKD to buy these drinking water form the mainland, and then they'll speculation the property,
lead to a rise in property prices within three years up to 130% just like HongKong, and now native not likely to buy their own homes,
but why should they buy a chunk of property in Hong Kong?
because the mainland people need money laundering from proceeds of corruption
Finally i also have to say, China still has a lot of good people, However, they are generally is a poor people,
May God bless New Zealaund.

Dear New Zealand
I know the situation, it happens in Hong Kong as well. We need to take action to stop this! 1.3 billion people going around the world and being "locusts" is not something easy to handle.
I hope this situation can be solved ASAP.
Good luck NZ, we will not lose to this!

Chinese (NOT HKese) make poor products to harm their people, even HKese. Rich chinese will go to HK or rest of world to get good products. As a result of this kind of "laundering", Chinese have all the good products but HKese can only have poor goods from China.
That's the way China support HK???

the story and fact behind the recent milk chaos.
for details, you may refer to the below link
in summary, the country-wise Quality Assurance process in China government body mainly focus on the protein level in the milk.
In order to increase the profit margin, Chinese businessmen add melamine into the already diluted milk to maintain its protein level, which can provide false reading in the test result in order to past the QA / procurement test.
The result is baby in china at that time suffers from all kind sickness include kidney stone.
No government official admit these issues at the start until the incident was publicized by new Zealand company.
A few Officials were step down Because of this event . But they were restored / promoted to other areas sometime later
A group of parents who stood up and ask for
Official enquiry and compensation in this event. Its leader, Zhao Lianhai, were bought to jail. He was then restricted for movement / closely guarded by Chinese national after his release
It raised a series of protests on the arrest and prosecution of Mr. Zhao in hong kong, a place where still has freedom of protest and speech in china.
Since then mainland Chinese do not believe in their own home formula milk as well as normal milk product and began to buy import milk from HK and other places
At the same time , because of the Japan earthquake and nuclear plantevent , Japanese formula milk were become unfavour by hk parents which further increase the demand of import formula milk in hk
It has raised further disagreement between hk and mainland china people, as mainland chinese raid all kind of goods and smuggle back to China for sale.

Raised the price 5 to 10 times, then government send cheque to each family with baby to cover the raise. That means whoever do not have a baby has to pay 5-10 times for baby formula.

"support from mainland china" is such a big joke!!!
Their meaning of supporting is "spending their money to smuggle ton of milk power and other daily goods from our local stores in Hong Kong back to their home in Mainland China.
They believe that could financially support the business in Hong Kong.
They alter our land-use from farmland to pricey residential state. We were forced to accepted unfair policies, which are harmful to our society.

Don't be silly, you mainlanders have come to Hong Kong to rob us of everything, you treated us no better (if not worst)the what the Brits did before 1997. You guys think of us as second class citizens too. Think of what the Hong Kongese and overseas Chinese did for you mainlanders, and this is how to repay us....I rather you guys let our economy suffer then coming to steal our stuff.
