New Zealand has done a U-turn on its refusal to accept a group of asylum seekers trying to get into Australia.

Officials initially rejected requests to take any of the 78 Sri Lankans onboard the Oceanic Viking, an Australian customs vessel.

However, the Melbourne Age is this morning reporting New Zealand will now take 13 of the last remaining group.

More than half the refugees will go to countries other than Australia – including the US, Canada and Norway.

This is a very bad move, our govt should never let these political and financial refugees/asylum seekers into our peaceful nation!.

These asylum seekers are from a predominantly muslim nation with very different views on peace and well-being, there is no way they nor their offspring will ever assimilate to western culture.

Just another burden for the taxpayers, we dont have enough state houses and welfare benefits to support the uneducated.

Funny, I don't exactly see hordes of refugees and asylum seeker flotillas drifting our way across the Pacific and Tasman... so let's be decent and humanitarian.

I think immagration is a good thing when you have a system in place and you have to meet certain requirements to satisfy the authorities before being allowed to enter a country. However asylum seekers and refugees NO WAY!! it just encourages more to attempt to come here and they are the kind we can do without.
