New Zealand has got off to a great start at the Wellington Sevens today topping their pool unbeaten as they head into tomorrow’s quarterfinals.

The defending champs took a while to warm up in their first game of the day against Scotland losing Toby Arnold with a leg injury in the first minute, something the Scots took full advantage of but the Kiwis came back to dominate the second half.

And if you thought Japan would be a walk in the park, you were not wrong, with the Kiwis beating them 54-nil.

Taking on Samoa in the final game of the day, New Zealand still had gas in the tank and flew home 19-5.
