NZNTM: You should never lift and sniff your food

NZNTM: You should never lift and sniff your food

We return to our quest to find New Zealand's Toppest of Models to many blue-toned flashbacks of AJ's elimination. The blue is for sadness - the other girls were sad to see her go, Issy says.

We are distracted from this heartbreak by the arrival of Sara Mail, which is about the importance of Manners.

The girls trot off to a restaurant, where they are met by Colin and actress Elizabeth Hawthorne. I miss most of the etiquette challenge trying to remember what I've seen her in (it's Outrageous Fortune and she was Ngaire).

Manners are better than expected, although Issy tastes the wine, shouting, "Oooh, daaaahling!" as she does so, and Rosanagh admits to being "a bit scared cause I ate with my fingers til I was about 12," which intrigues me (raised by wolves?)

Brigette impresses, Bianca doesn't: "You should never lift and sniff your food," says Ms Hawthorne.

My colleague points out they all have their elbows on the table.

The next day... Sara Maaaaail! It's the go-see challenge. Everyone races around like there's a sale at the Warehouse, going and seeing like there's no tomorrow.

Post-go-see, here is Chris with some sort of yellow bird on his shoulder! Oh no wait that's fashion.

Rosanagh wins, booking 4 of 4 jobs. Brigette and Bianca both book 3, but Issy does not book any. The designers like her, but as she says, "My walk fails, no matter how hard I try".

Back at the house, and I didn't really hear the Sara Mail but it sounded like "you can be movement and still life freaks." What?

The photoshoot is for the Wella Pro Series, and all the girls will represent a hair product in a 3D photo, where they have to stay still for 12 seconds. Ahh, I see.

Colleague says, "If this is the Pro Series, I'd hate to see the amateurs".

Issy does the best and manages to focus and stay still for the entire time, surprising everyone.

Bianca has to smile, which she says "makes me feel like a donkey". Photographers admit that she managed to smile, but say they are unlikely to have anything earth-shattering.

Brigette has massive 80s shoulderpads, which she enjoys, but needs to bring a bit more sparkle to her face and blinks far too much.

Rosanagh has MASSIVE hair and is "so nervous her face was twitching". She is also extremely blinky until the last pictures, when Chris says "This is your money shot" and she freezes completely, possibly because she is aware of a definition for 'money shot' that Chris isn't.

Post-challenge, Issy says she's going to tell Sara she's "not in it to win it, because I don't feel like I'm good enough yet". The others encourage her not to... sort of.

"There's always that chance that they don't listen to her and I might go home!" says one, supportively.

Elimination time, and it's Night of the Unfortunate Headgear - both Bianca and Brigette are wearing Pocahontas headbands (one suspects they dared each other to) and Colin is wearing what looks like a bit of sushi atop his head. Sadly, one suspects no-one had to dare him. Colleague says it looks like he's been watching Last of the Mohicans a bit too much.

Brigette had a good week and is proclaimed to be "very versatile as a model overall." She's one of the quieter girls but they actually quite like this as it is not always the time to be roaring like a hippo.

Bianca's photo "doesn't hit what you were directed to do", the judges say, and she also gains "a major black mark" by deciding not to go and see one of the, um, go-sees. Bianca! You go and see them! The clue is in the name!

Issy says she feels like she's gone as far as she can in the competition, but Colin essentially says there's a reason she's in the top four and the judges aren't stupid. She was the most focused and understood the brief, and the photo is "a nice contradiction to your bubbly personality".

Rosanagh has indeed got the money shot - Chris says she "really stumbled through the process" but the picture is lovely. Colin asks if she worried about her styling for the shoot: "Were you intimidated being so hairy?"

Four beautiful girls stand before Sara, but she only has three photos in her hands.

The music becomes dramatic:

Bianca and Issy are the bottom two.

Sara feels like they've both given up.

The eleventh girl to be eliminated from New Zealand’s Next Top Model is…

Issy!

She says she's sad because she's going to miss everyone, but will "become Issy again".

"My time on Top Model was actually the hardest thing I've ever done," she says, "but I've met the coolest people, I've done some crazy things."

"It's also made me realise that there is so much out there in this world."

The top three, in order of names called:

  • Rosanagh
  • Brigitte
  • Bianca
