National Kiwi Trust hatches 700th chick

The National Kiwi Trust in Rotorua is celebrating the hatching of its 700th kiwi chick.

The chick has been named Whiturau, which means 700 in Maori, and was born just before midnight.

Weighing in at a healthy 253g, Whiturau will be released into the wild when it reaches the goal weight of 1kg.
