One of only five pockets of privately owned land in Abel Tasman National Park is for sale with a $1.58 million price tag.
The hideaway at Boundary Bay comes with 2.7 hectares of bush and has been a holiday destination for the Wills family of Christchurch for 70 years.
Listing agent Jan Long of Bayleys Real Estate said the property featured the ultimate in privacy, with the 11-year-old bach not visible from the sea.
Designed by award-winning Greymouth architect Gary Hopkinson, the four-bedroom property has views of Tasman Bay, Anchorage and Torrent Bay heads.
Family member Sarah Roberts told the Nelson Mail the decision to sell was difficult as the family had many special memories of the property.
It was also the end of a family legacy started by her grandfather Eric, who bought the land, then 40 hectares, just before World War II.
Ms Long said most private land in the national park was kept within families and rarely came up for sale.
