The latest 3 News Reid Research poll sees National given a huge boost - with Labour and its leader David Shearer going backwards.

Support for the National Party is up 4.8 percent to 50.6 percent, while Labour is down 2.4 percent to 30.8 percent.

The Greens are also down to 11.2 percent from 14.4 percent in the last poll.

Labour's slide has been reflected in the preferred Prime Minister stakes, with David Shearer down 2.3 percent to 8.9 percent. John Key is up 2.7 percent with a 43.2 percent share.

@DAVID - "We do know from past history that stay at homes generally favour Labour 2 to Nationals 1." And THERE is the reason why Labour lost the last two elections... it doesn't metter what party you would/could have voted for, if you don't vote, you don't count.
If all of the people who stayed at home, according to David, had taken the time to step away from their TVs and walk to the nearest polling booth, there could have been a different outcome. The other excuses I have heard are that it is unfair on the left as they (if they have jobs) often have to work on Saturdays and therefore they can't vote. This is rubbish as you can vote prior to the polling day, but it requires that you be organised.

Heehee David, another leftie who believes with all his (small) might that he is correct and his political thoughts/wishes are correct and anyone who agrees with his politics is correct and all others who don't agree are 'rich pricks', 'idiots', 'fooled by Key' blah blah blah.
David...the left have for 4yrs now just said NO to anything the Govt came up with...they have offered no credible alternative policy ( alternative meaning with costings ...that usually always kills Labours Ideas as the magic money tree doesn't actually exist)...so whine and moan and cry away David, your side lost and the way it's going you'll be in with a chance in 2017?! possibly, maybe?...as Mallard/Goff/King/Shearer will have gone by then?..probably not Mallard, I hope he stays...he is the best thing that a National Govt could wish for, he's a walking disaster...hope he stays till he's in his 70's!

A poll is a poll. When Labour is up National supporters say its a scam, and vs versa. It is what it is. A poll.

What amazes me is these very same people are proud of the fact that National made money available to the mongrel mob for a drug buy with funds from Whanau Ora. Its also getting ready to fund the education systems of cults like the exclusive Brethren and Destiny church. Talk about losing the plot... but I guess National had to find a way to pay the exclusive Brethren back for the little Pamphlet drop they did for Don Brash.

Socialism and capitalism both have their good and bad points - it just depends on WHO is running the show. The current mob are pretty despicable. Hopefully there will be a change next time round, but that will depend strongly on whether there is a credible and values-based alternative. If the left spend too much time engaged in peripheral and questionable issues (cf Louisa Wall), that will only play again into the hands of the current crowd.

LOL look at the paid mouthpieces... could TV3 possibly ask posters to sign a non disclosure form asking if they are affliated with any industries under the employ of the National Party? alot of paid mouth pieces here who should be working... at say 2pm (eddies post) or Chery (11am post). Doesnt it strike as funny that the biggest National party voices are posting at various times of the day when others would in general be working. Unless of course their job is to come online during the day and post the latest media release from the National Party. Apparently right wingers just dont work. During the last poll results all of these posters were arguing that the polls were wrong lol Eddie barely knows what he is saying as Labour actually only got 28 percent of 66 percent of the vote or 18 . 4 percent of the total vote. Nationals whole coalition government got 48 percent of the 66 percent of voters who showed up totalling 31.68 percent of total elligible voters. What Eddie, Cheryl and Mike dont know... what the polls didnt predict for the last election was what those people who answer this survey will do on election day. We do know from past history that stay at homes generally favour Labour 2 to Nationals 1. What people like Mike or Cheryl or poor little Eddie dont know is who I vote for... they only know I am a leftie or socialist... a scoialist of course being an individual who has empathy, cares about the people in our society... who doesnt think that money rules the world.. and a person who doesnt support a corupt system.. such as the one John Key has in place where He and his mates get everything while ordinary kiwis get screwed. Thats the differemce between a socialist and a capitalist. Capitalism creates indentured poverty, homelessness and crime. As does socialism... but the slurs that people like Eddie and Cheryl and Mike use... are just as applicable to themselves... more so in some cases.

How much of the poll was on land lines. My under 45 year olds only have cell phones or don't answer the land line. When I think polls are actually polling ALL people then I will believe.
