Police say they will not reveal the cause of death of the new born baby boy that died yesterday at a West Auckland home.
A post-mortem was completed today on the baby, who is between 30 to 36 weeks old.
Police say they are not looking for further suspects outside of those assisting.
The baby boy was found just before 5pm at an address on Barron Dr, Green Bay, reportedly under a tarpaulin.
“Medical professionals and relatives are being spoken to and a scene examination is in progress," says Det Sgt Sean Hylands-Mills of the Waitakere CIB.
"The address remains in police control while our investigations continue.”
Barron St resident John Morgan told
The New Zealand Herald that the house was opposite a playground and near a primary school.
"The kids sitting at the park are looking across at a house that's all taped off surrounded by cops, it's not very nice," he told the paper.
"It's a nice area, quiet area, there's lots of kids around here and the park's always full of kids."
Mr Hylands-Mills said "persons involved" are co-operating with police enquiries.
