The Christchurch house where two bodies were found in a shallow grave is being demolished today after a third arson attack on it.

Firefighters arrived about 5.40am at the Wainoni home where Tisha Lowry and Rebecca Somerville were discovered buried in September to find it well alight.

Greg Crawford, of the Christchurch Fire Service, told NZPA the home was now in the process of being demolished.

"It's too dangerous to leave it standing, especially with the north-westerly winds picking up," he said.

Locals gathered to watch the demolition this morning, saying they were pleased to see the house go.

Mrs Somerville's husband, Jason, pleaded guilty to murdering his wife and Ms Lowry, his neighbour. He will be sentenced on January 29.

I bet those that set fire to the house were watching it burn. I also would say it was a local who is the arsonist.

Now why should I as a rate payer in Christchurch have to put up with this damn council after buying Hendersons properties to help him out, now spend more of my money to put a memorial garden in? It has not been done for others that have been murdered in Christchurch.
