SAFE are planning to protest the "Catch-a-cray" arcade game

Mon, 08 Feb 2010 6:43a.m.

Animal rights group SAFE is planning a protest outside a central Auckland pub against an arcade game where live crayfish are caught.

There are now eight "Catch-a-Cray" machines left around the country, reduced from 15 after customers complained.

SAFE's campaign director Hans Kreik says the crayfish are subjected to an average of 30 probes before they are caught.

The protest is at the Albion Hotel in Auckland this afternoon.
