The navy has joined the search for the bodies of two people who have been missing off the coast of New Plymouth for three weeks.
Spotswood College students Stephen Kahukaka-Gedye and Joao Felipe Martins De Melo, both 17, and instructor Bryce Jourdain, 42, were swept into rough seas off Paritutu Rock on August 8 when a rock climbing adventure went wrong.
Felipe's body was found in waters near the rock on Sunday, but Stephen and Mr Jourdain are still missing.
A statement released by police on Thursday evening says members of the New Zealand Navy have joined the search and spent Wednesday and Thursday searching waters using sonar equipment.
The Police National Dive Squad is also assisting.
