R&B singer Ne-Yo is teaming up with comic book mastermind Stan Lee to release an animated storybook to coincide with the release of his next album.

The ‘So Sick’ hitmaker has joined forces with the 87-year-old former Marvel president to work on a comic to accompany his fourth studio record, Libra Scale.

Ne-Yo will appear in the strip as a man called Jerome who is given superpowers but is banned from falling in love.

The collaboration will also see the singer's first three singles from the album – ‘Beautiful Monster’, ‘Champagne Life’ and ‘One in a Million’ - turned into animated videos to continue the comic book story.

Ne-Yo tell Britain's Daily Star, "I've been a fan (of Lee's) for years. I'm trying not to geek-out being with Stan. It's cool that I can take this comic element of myself and blend it into the R&B element. I got to draw characters myself."

Lee adds, "A really good rapper inspires people. Reading a good comic book does the same thing."

Libra Scale is due for release later this month.
