The red carpet has been rolled out for both stars and locals involved in the first ever feature length film to be made in Nelson.
Kiwi Flyer follows a young man's quest to win the local trolley derby race.
For a film all about wheels, it was fitting for the stars of the film to arrive in an array of old fashioned cars.
Kiwi Flyer follows 12-year-old Ben trying to win the local trolley derby race in memory of his late father.
But like many sporting challenges in New Zealand, he has some Australian rivalry.
Nelson’s red carpet wasn't exclusively for the more well-known actors in Kiwi Flyer, as the film was entirely shot in the city, and involved around 300 locals, who were all at the premiere.
“I'm really excited to show everyone in Nelson here the movie,” director Tony Simpson says. “It's all about them. I'm really proud.”
The film was comedian Dai Henwood's first, and he says it won't be his last.
“I know Vin Diesel is running scared. I can definitely see me being in Fast and the Furious 11, I mean watch out Vin.”
The rest of New Zealand can decide if they agree when Kiwi Flyer opens in cinemas next Thursday.
