Christmas has come early in the form of a $6 million prize for someone who purchased a powerball lottery ticket in Nelson, and ten tickets sold at the same lotto shop also picked up first division prizes.
A powerball prize of $6 million was won on Saturday by a player in Nelson, says Lotto chief executive Todd McLeay.
"This win brings some good news to the flood-affected region. There are also seven shopping days until Christmas, so our latest Powerball winner has time to upgrade their Christmas presents if they wanted," says Mr McLeay.
The winning powerball ticket was sold at Richmond Night N Day in Nelson.
There were 14 Lotto winners, each winning a $214,286 share of first division.
Ten winning tickets were sold at Richmond Night N Day in Nelson and other tickets Countdown Manukau and Browns Bay Toyworld in Auckland, Take Note Dinsdale in Hamilton and Wainoni Pak N Save in Christchurch.
