KFC launched their new chicken pie today and so far the verdict is good.
The pie, which launched in KFC stores around the country at 10am, is made of chicken, potato and gravy and costs $4.50.
Dale French, Tristan Comley and Ashley Zaragoza took their lunch break at KFC today to try the pie, and the verdict was unanimous: they liked it.
“Heaven in my mouth pretty much, it’s amazing,” Mr Zaragoza says, adding that it reminds him of Georgie Pie.
“It sort of reminds me of my childhood like Georgie Pie when I had my seventh birthday there.”
Mr French analysed the flavour.
“It’s sweet, got a sweet flavour to it. The spices on top make it taste awesome.”
He says he could taste potatoes, onions and gravy.
The trio say they had been talking about the pie coming out all week, so made sure they came to get one on the first day.
They found KFC to be quite busy, the line was not quite out the door, but there was about a 10 minute wait.
Mr Zaragoza thought he would be back for another pie soon.
“Probably for dinner.”
A KFC spokeswoman says the pies have been so popular today that they are getting low at some stores in Auckland and elsewhere.
“They’re extremely popular, so much so supplies are getting low,” she says.
“We’ll definitely be upping the production run.”
