The pilot movie of the Star Trek series was nothing like what's being portrayed. The movie was called The Cage and was created, written and produced by Gene Roddenberry in 1964. Captain Christpher Pike was played by Jeffrey Hunter and Leonard Nimoy was amongst the cast as Spock. It never went to air on TV but portions of the movie were used in a double-episode titled The Menagerie. Copyright 1964 by Desilu Productions.
