Officials in New York have declared 19 June annual Justin Bieber Appreciation Day.
The ‘Baby’ hitmaker attended a record signing on Tuesday at an electronics store in Manhattan, where he was visited by the borough's president Scott Stringer.
According to Amny.com, the official handed the pop star a framed certificate to mark the special day and made reference to Bieber's new album Believe, saying, "This proclamation is on behalf of the 1.6 million people who live in Manhattan, and it's very exciting to have Bieber here with us... I don't give proclamation unless I believe."
Meanwhile, the pop star has begged his fans to back off as he waited for girlfriend Selena Gomez at an airport on Friday.
Bieber told dozens of overzealous devotees to be patient as they repeatedly requested autographs as he waited at Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Canada for his girlfriend's flight to land.
In a video obtained by Hollywoodlife.com, Bieber is seen addressing the adoring mob, saying, "Do I not have any right as a human being to wait for my own girlfriend? Why do you have to be so impatient... I've been here waiting for my girlfriend.
"I'm still a human being, I have a right to wait for my own girlfriend... You're not being very respectful at all. I feel very disrespected with all you guys waiting. You say you're really my fans, but then why are you doing this?"
