Teresa Patterson of CRS Management has been named Manager of the Year for her management of Six60, I Am Giant and Iva Lamkum over 2011.
Patterson also won the award for Best Independent Tour, for Six60’s successful NZ tours which have culminated in her and the band currently being on a two month overseas tour.
Her fellow CRS managers Paul McKessar and Campbell Smith were named International Achievement winners for the second year running, for their work with artists The Naked and Famous and Brooke Fraser.
1814 guitarist Patu Colbert was named Self Managed Artist for his achievements with the roots reggae band.
The MMF-organised awards were significantly expanded this year with several new categories.
The David Dallas’ three-day pop up store in Ponsonby for the release of album Rose Tint saw Ingrid Bennie win the new Outside the Box category, intended to reward lateral thinking.
Tim Youngson and Scott Maclachlan, managers of international dubstep act Mt Eden, were recognised for their online achievements with the act having close to 95 million views on its Youtube channel and over 250,000 fans on Facebook.
Haddon Smith was named Breakthrough Manager for his work with singer Annah Mac, while Cushla Aston took out the Upcoming Manager title for her work with The Thomas Oliver Band and Rio Hemopo. Ryan Kershaw was presented with the MMF Mentoring Success award.
The Best Venue title – another new addition – was awarded to the Leigh Sawmill, while the Industry Champion award again went to the NZ Music Commission.
The MMF is an organisation for music managers funded by the NZ Music Commission which provides advocacy, support and mentoring for its members.
