New Zealand has been named as one of the top ten film locations in the world by leading film magazine P3 Update.
New Zealand Film chief executive Gisella Carr says the win is a big boost for the local film industry, saying the past decade has been good to New Zealand, which has managed to attract several big-name movie titles.
“The ability to pull production out of the US is no small achievement, and to be one of the three countries that’s being name here is quite outstanding,” she says.
Ms Carr believes years of hard work by the local film industry are finally beginning to bear fruit.
“The industry hasn’t been built out of nothing, it’s been built out of creative ability and ambition,” she says.
Ms Carr says New Zealand needs to maintain the status quo with the way it treats the film industry and continue to encourage young people into the sector.
