Step aside Armani, go away Gucci - Barbie has chosen Karen walker as her new fashion designer.
It is Barbie's 50th birthday on Monday, and she has not aged a bit.
Over the years it has become a tradition for international fashion designers to be invited to create Barbie outfits, and the latest is New Zealand's own Karen Walker.
Her five tiny creations will now become part of the Barbie archive.
Fortunately Ms Walker did not get her inspiration for Barbie's designs from the Malibu days.
"These are for next season's collection," she says about Barbie's new clothes. "Just showed these in New York. When choosing what Barbie should wear, I thought she's fashion forward, and should have what isn't even in the stores yet."
While Ms Walker worked it in New York, she left Abby Foy in charge of making the mini outfits.
"Basically what I did was look at the patterns of the life size garments, measured Barbie 'cause she's got quite interesting proportions, modified it and made the little patterns pieces," says Ms Foy.
Campbell Live checked out Barbie's wardrobe at Toyworld yesterday - over 1 billion fashions have been produced for Barbie and friends over 50 years.
Looking at some of the outfits, Barbie should be grateful Ms Walker has stepped in.
Over 70 legendary designers have clothed her impossible figure.
"Extraordinarily small waist," says Ms Walker. "She's had ribs removed, Botox - expression has not changed, which is surprising considering what she's been sitting on."
