The downfall of music chains like Real Groovy has prompted cries that digital music is the only way to go.

The Kingsland Vinyl Appreciation Society in Auckland is setting out to make sure music keeps its physical form.

It soon became apparent the Kingsland Vinyl Appreciation Society is not really a society; it is really just one guy, Will Waters.

However, he certainly does appreciate vinyl.

Waters’ band Body Corporate has just released its debut album on vinyl – only on vinyl.

For many consumers it has been years since they last bought a tangible album.

Consequently, Body Corporate made 300 records instead of 300 CD’s to be sold in, well, record stores.

While they look and sound great, you can not commercially print a record in New Zealand the pressers were thrown into the ocean some time ago.

Despite the odd and challenging concept, the band has largely received positive reviews.

And while there is no CD, the record does come with a voucher so you can download it.

They may be romantic about the vinyl, but they are not stupid.
