Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz nearly missed out on a role in hit comedy movie There's Something About Mary because her managers warned it could end her career.

Diaz won critical acclaim for the film, landing her first Emmy Award nomination for her outrageous turn opposite Ben Stiller.

But the Charlie's Angels star admits that she came close to turning down the role after advisors told her the controversial script could stall her blossoming Hollywood career.

"My agent and manager thought that doing this film was an insane move - I was told it would be the end of my career," she said. "But it has been the highlight of my career and my personal life."
