Sir Paul McCartney's ex-wife Heather Mills has shot down rumours she is writing a semi-autobiographical novel, insisting her focus is on mending her broken heart following the break-up of her marriage.

Mills was said to have been planning to draw on her life experiences to write a novel about a model who marries a global superstar.

But the 40-year-old, who received a US$50 million settlement from McCartney in March, claims there is no such book in the pipeline.

She tells People.com: "These book rumours are nonsense. I am trying to move on, spend time with my daughter and get on with my charitable work. It's been a terrible period for everyone."

And Mills was also quick to deny tabloid reports she was recently dropped from the line-up of Donald Trump's hit US reality TV show Celebrity Apprentice because she had demanded a place in the final round.

She adds: "These rumours are rubbish. Donald asked me to go on the show months ago and I was flattered, but I declined immediately because I have commitments to my daughter, Beatrice, in the UK, which wouldn't have allowed me three months to appear on the show. We never got close to the contract stage."
