Red-faced movie star Leonardo DiCaprio was left covering up his blushes during a recent TV interview after a US presenter quizzed him about when he first had sex.

DiCaprio was asked to comment on remarks made by his Body of Lies co-star Russell Crowe, in which the Oscar winner suggested his young pal was an 18-year-old virgin when they made western The Quick & The Dead together in 1995.

Commenting on the differences between DiCaprio then and now, Crowe quipped, "The two things that have changed about Leo since that time is he can drink legally and he's no longer a virgin."

But the younger actor insists the Gladiator star is mistaken, and he had to face awkward questions about his first time when he faced Access Hollywood presenter Nancy O'Dell.

Embarrassed DiCaprio said, "He has no idea what he's talking about and that's all I'm gonna say... I am going to let this one slide."

But when O'Dell asked the movie star why he was blushing, he chuckled, "Wow, I feel like I'm in a therapy session."

And, despite the actor's protests, Crowe is refusing to back down. He claims DiCaprio boasted about his first time at a premiere party the two pals met at long after The Quick & The Dead came out.

Crowe recalls, "He sort of hugged me and whispered in my ear, 'I'm not a virgin anymore.'"
