You'd never know it from seeing her on the red carpet but Michelle Yeoh claims to be a shirt and jeans kind of girl.

The international movie star is often seen striking a pose at premieres.

Catch her in real life, and Michelle says it's a very different story:

"Because I exercise, I like being on the run, being on the go - I don't like being on the go in high heels, I don't think that works. I save that for when I have to go up the red carpet or when I'm dressed up. But normally I prefer to give the feet a rest so I run around and I'm more the jeans and shirt kind of gal."

But when she does frock it up, the actress who featured in the likes of 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' and 'Memoirs of a Geisha', does it in style.

She says for her it's as much about the designer behind the dress as the dress itself:

"I think that it's very important that you have a philosophy of the creator who's doing all this and you have to feel that what they're doing is because they really love how women look when they are sashaying, you know, and they can see their creations come to life, come to full bloom. So when you have one of a creation of theirs, you do feel exceptionally special."

And she's a particular fan of Italy's Roberto Cavalli:

"When I first started to wear his things people were like, 'oh but he's very racy'. And you know we come from a culture where we're supposed to be more demure and all this kind of... But I find that he's not just racy, I think that's a really sad word to describe a designer. He is very innovative, he can be sexy but at the same time very sensuous."

A former Bond girl, back when Pierce Brosnan was in 007's spy shoes, Yeoh also likes to work out.

Only she doesn't necessarily think of it as "work":

"I do exercising, which everybody thinks is like a workout, for me it's part of my life. So when I do that, that's the time when I have my little meditation."
