Fidel Castro seized power in Cuba 50 years ago and the US embargo has been in effect almost as long.

The blockade, or “el bloqueo” as it is known locally, forced Cubans to recycle.

There is no better example of this than the riders of the 100 existing Harley Davidson’s in Cuba.

Maintaining the bikes has been no mean feat considering that no Harley Davidson or harley Davidson part has entered Cuba since JFK was American president.

Bikers fix their bikes with old car parts or more unusually old Soviet tanks.
