The US designer Marc Jacobs - who is creative director of the French fashion house - is not a fan of the brand's range of trunks, insisting anyone who really travels in luxury would not use one.
He said: "I don't think there's anything practical about travelling with a trunk. Luxury travel is travelling with a toothbrush. That's it, end of story. The people who really live luxurious lives don't need to pack. They've got stuff wherever they go."
Marc also discussed his role as a trend-setter, insisting his job isn't to come up with the latest trends but to create clothing that appeals to women and sells.
Referring to Louis Vuitton's president Bernard Arnault, Marc told the New York Times newspaper: "I only work to please one person, and that's Mr. Arnault. He gave me the job, he wanted me there and he believed I could do it. When he's pleased, I'm pleased and the only way he's pleased is when we sell a lot of product.
"I have a job to do. We have to choose colours and make some clothes and then we have to hope that women are going to go out and buy them."
