Eva Herzigova believes supermodels are making a comeback.
The 35-year-old model is delighted older stars are gracing campaigns – Claudia Schiffer appears in the new Yves Saint Laurent adverts, Linda Evangelista is producing a L’Oreal make-up range and Naomi Campbell walked the runway for Hermes recently – and insists the trend will continue.
Eva – who found fame in the infamous ‘Hello Boys’ Wonderbra advert in the 90s – said: “It’s the economy. People want something they know. It says something about the position about women in this world. They are confirming their status. It is no longer a monopoly for men, where only young beautiful women have value.
“It’s the opposite. A woman today has to be older to have respect. She has to have experience.”
The model – who has 21-month old son George with partner Gregorio Marsiaj – added she hates being called a yummy mummy and pays no attention to her appearance when she is with her son.
She told Britain’s Sunday Times Style magazine: “I’m no bourgeois mum who goes out to look pretty with her baby. I’m very down-to-earth. I’m a tomboy mummy. I dress up to get dirty.
“Being a mother makes you more connected with reality and you get more comfortable with you are.”
