The 24-year-old actress Scarlett Johansson – who is the face of Dolce and Gabbana’s new make-up range – always tries to look glamorous when she is attending Hollywood events and believes a slick of bright lip colour is the best way to do so.
She said: “I’ve always liked red lipstick, it always makes you look tied together. When I’m on the red carpet, I always try to give a nod to old Hollywood. I feel like the red carpet deserves that.
“I never thought about my face when I was a kid, but I used to wear lipstick every day in high school. In New York, everybody comes into school with full facial tattoos, so lipstick was allowed.”
Despite loving make-up, Scarlett admits she is hates having manicures and pedicures.
The actress is “weird” about other people touching her feet, and reveals she is so impatient she usually smudges her nail lacquer before it has dried.
Scarlett tends to paint her nails herself instead, but her beauty therapist talents do not extend to styling her own hair.
She explained to Britain’s InStyle magazine: “I’m terrible. If I’m going to a party or something, my sister is on speed dial. I’ll do her make-up, so we swap. Every time I try to do the back of my hair, my arms go numb or it turns out like a bird’s nest.”
